From Tehran, the grandiose current capital, to the valley of Khorram Abad as the crossroads of neanderthals and wise men, to the fabulous cities of Esfahan and Shiraz which evoke the tales of “One Thousand and One Nights”, up to the archaeological sites of Pasargade , Persepolis and Naqsh-e-Rostam. A journey where every day reserves surprises that make Iran one of the most fascinating and unmissable tourism destinations today.

Travel Itinerary

Departure from Your Origin  for Tehran. I process the customs procedures and transfer to the hotel in Tehran. Dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the guide and beginning of the visit to the city. Visit to the famous Archaeological Museum, whose entrance evokes the great arch of the Palace of Cosroes in Ctesiphon, full of finds and works dating back to the great periods of Persian history, from the Achaemenids to the Parthians and Sassanids. Next, visit the Golestan Palace (UNESCO since 2013), a complex of buildings erected in the 17th century and beautifully decorated. Lunch in a restaurant and then a visit to the national jewelery museum. An extraordinary collection of jewels belonging to Iranian imperial families from the Afsharide dynasty onwards, where we will see Daryaye Nour (the sea of ​​light), the heaviest pink diamond in the world (approximately 182 carats). Then, immersion in the main bazaar of the Iranian capital, a maze of narrow streets, a city within the city. Dinner and overnight in Tehran.

Departure in good time for Tehran Mehrabad airport to take the direct flight to Khorram Abad (50 minutes). Immediately after landing we will be directed to the roof of the city where we will have a panoramic view of the Khorram Abad valley which in 2024 will be one of the two Iranian candidates to be included in the list of UNESCO heritage sites. It is a very ancient human settlement where scientific research has demonstrated the presence of human life for over 40,000 years. In this wonderful valley which still today offers its citizens coexistence with nature, we will see the fortress of Falak-ol-Aflak, a Sassanid barracks and its very rich archaeological and anthropological museum. The Shapuri bridge (which we have the honor of taking the name of), another proof of Sassanid engineering in the area, a brick minaret, a Buyidi era watchtower (10th, 11th century) and the stone vortex, a circular structure built by the Sassanids on a water source to be able to distribute it as best as possible. Transfer to hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

At 04:30 in the morning departure for the Dorud railway station (88 Km / 1:30 hours) to take the regional train at 6:30 directed to Andimeshk making a short section on the Trans Iranian Railway (UNESCO from 2021) passing through middle of the Zagros mountains (about 4 hours). An engineering masterpiece 1394 km long from the south-east of the Caspian Sea to the north-west of the Persian Gulf built at the time of Pahlavi I. Breakfast on the train and lunch in Shushtar. The rest of the day will be dedicated to visiting the Shushtar hydraulic system (UNESCO since 2009) a complex of bridges, dams and mills. A true masterpiece of creative genius that can be traced back to Darius the Great in the 5th century BC. Dinner and overnight in Shushtar.

In the early morning we will visit two other Iranian heritage sites. Tchogha Zanbil (UNESCO since 1979) a complex of various temples from the Elamite era (1250 BC) and Susa (UNESCO since 2015) the meeting point of two very ancient civilisations, Mesopotamia and the Elamite and the winter capital of the Achaemenid empire. Transfer to Ahvaz (120 km/1:45 hours), dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast we leave for Shiraz (560 km/8 hours). Along the way we will visit Bishapour old city (UNESCO since 2018), The fortified structures, palaces and city plan dating back to the early and late times of the Sassanid Empire, which extended across the region from 224 to 658 AD. Dinner and overnight in Shiraz.

Breakfast at the hotel. Whole day dedicated to Shiraz city tour: the Nasir-ol Molk Mosque, known as the “Pink Mosque” due to the dominant color of its interior due to the play of light created by its windows, the Citadel of Karimkhan Zand, built between 1766 and 1767, the Vakil Mosque, the most impressive of Shiraz’s mosques which was completed in 1773. It has only two access portals (iwan), usually there are four. These, like the walls of the internal courtyard, are decorated in glazed ceramic with floral motifs. Other panels bear drawings of stylized trees with seven shades of color (haft rangy), typical of local 19th century art. The Eram Gardens (UNESCO since 2011), date back to the time of the Qajar dynasty. It is planted mainly with date palms and cypresses known locally as “Sarv-e Naz”. Inside is the “Qavam mansion”, an elegant, magnificently decorated two-storey structure. It was built to a design by the architect Mohammad Hasan at the end of the 19th century on behalf of the Qavam family, rich merchants who were able to curry favor with the Shahs of Persia, both of the Zand dynasty and of the representatives of the subsequent Qajar and Pahlavi dynasties. The main avenue of the park winds from the mansion among palm trees and flower beds and bordered by numerous ornamental basins. Visit Naranjestan and the bazaar for a walk and some shopping. Lunch in restaurant. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, early departure towards Persepolis (UNESCO since 1979), the majestic palace-city of the Persian kings, built in the 6th century. B.C. and destroyed by Alexander. In-depth visit to the Apadana Palace, built by Dario to celebrate the holidays at the beginning of the year: the enormous platform is covered with bas-reliefs depicting all the populations that were part of the Persian Empire. First Darius and then Xerxes had brought the best craftsmen of their world to Persia, building a palace that was to be the sum of the architecture and sculpture of the time. The visit continues with Naqsh-e Rostam, place of the tombs of the Achaemenid kings, unfortunately now empty, famous for the Sassanid bas-reliefs: one of these is very famous for testifying the defeat and capture of the Roman emperor Valerian by the Sassanid king Shapur. Lunch in restaurant. Afterwards, a stop at the first Achaemenid capital Pasargadae (UNESCO since 2004), where the simple tomb of the founder of the dynasty, Cyrus the Great, stands. Continuation to Yazd. Hotel accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Start of visits to one of the oldest Iranian cities, characterized by its ocher-colored houses, famous for hosting the largest community of Zoroastrians, the ancient religion preceding Islam. You will see the Zoroastrian Towers of Silence and the Fire Temple, where the sacred fire has burned continuously since 470 BC. C. Dowlat Abad Garden (UNESCO since 2011) famous for its tall “Bad Ghir” which at 33 meters high is the tallest wind tower in Iran, the Mir Chaghmagh Mosque and the Friday Mosque. Lunch in restaurant. Breakfast. Then departure for Esfahan. Along the way, stop in Varzaneh which is famous in Iran and in the world for its spectacular desert, considered one of the most accessible desert areas in Iran where we will take a beautiful 4*4 off-road ride on the dunes. The silent sand dunes of Varzaneh are 5 to 62 m high, the highest among those in the Iranian deserts. This place with a diameter of about 45 km is bewitching and an ideal place for meditation. Lunch in restaurant. Continue to Esfahan, dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Two days dedicated to visiting one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East. The heart of the city is the beautiful Naqshe Giahan Square (UNESCO since 1979), one of the largest in the world, overlooked by extraordinary examples of great Safavid architecture: the Imam Mosque, the Sheikh Loftollah Mosque, the Palace Reale (Ali Qapu), all dominated by the turquoise riot of majolica and glazed mosaics. The fantastic Friday Mosque (UNESCO since 2012) is the true summa of Islamic architecture with different overlapping styles ranging from the Seljuk and Mongolian periods up to the baroque of the Safavid age. The royal palace of Chehel Sotun (UNESCO since 2011), conceived as a place of leisure and receptions and is famous for its frescoes. You will also have time to visit the Jolfa district, today the lively center of the Armenian Church, with the Vank Cathedral and its interesting museum. The spectacular Khagiù Bridge, built by Shah Abbas around 1650. Lunch in a restaurant. Dinners and overnight stays in the hotel

Breakfast at the hotel. Then departure for Kashan (262 km / 3:30 hours), located on the edge of the great salt desert. Along the way, stop in Abyaneh, a small mountain village characterized by the ocher color of its houses. In Kashan we will see the famous Garden of Fin (UNESCO since 2011) inside which there are some palaces from the Safavid and Cajaran periods. It also contains Kashan’s Fin Bath, where Amir Kabir, the prime minister of the Qajar dynasty, was assassinated by an assassin sent by Shah Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar in 1852. Lunch in a restaurant during the excursion.

Breakfast at the hotel. Continuing the visit to Kashan, we start from a rose garden and the rose water production cellar where we will see how this famous souvenir of Iran is produced. Then the Tabātabāei house built for the wealthy Tabatabaei family by the carpet merchant Seyyed Ja’far Tabatabaei, famous for its refined interior stucco work and stone reliefs, as well as its stained glass windows and mirrors.
Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon, departure for Tehran (250 km/3 hours). Visit the shrine of Fatima (sister of the 8th Shia Imam) in Qom along the way. Dinner and overnight in Tehran.

Breakfast at the hotel and then the beginning of the last visits to the Iranian capital: Sadabad Palace, the historical residence of the Pahlavi royal family. It is a complex of sumptuous residences and museums including the White Palace and the Green Palace. Then the visit to the Niavaran Palace, the residence of the last Shah of Persia and his family, where we can also admire the royal library and the royal car museum. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon visit the Tabiat Bridge (nature). A 3-level curved construction that also houses benches, plants, bars and restaurants. At the top level the bridge offers those who visit it breathtaking views of the city and the snow-capped peaks of the Alborz mountains. Transfer in good time to the Remis hotel, next to Tehran international airport. Dinner options: the panoramic and revolving restaurant on the top of the Milad tower.
